Classes​ & Workshops for Adults - Summer 2023

CCE invites interested painters to join a 9-month program that brings us together for a regular intuitive painting practice. This ongoing intuitive-painting inquiry is anchored by three 5-day intensives, where all participants take a deep dive into intuitive painting together. (Ideally we'll paint in person at the CCE studio. Participation by Zoom may be possible in some cases, as needed.)

 

ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION

This program is for experienced intuitive painters. To be eligible, you should have done one of the following:​

 

• Attended at least one 7-day intensive

• Taken a year's worth of weekly classes (four 8-week classes).

• Have other equivalent experience.

INTENSIVE INQUIRY BASICS

This 9-month exploration offers painters and CCE a chance to create something organically. What happens if we come together, fresh, new, willing to try things wildly out-of-the-box, stir ourselves up for the sake of freedom and unconditional acceptance. We will combine CCE's usual painting classes with a series of longer intensives. To participate, painters must commit to all anchor events (outlined below) and must agree to pay in full (in advance or with a payment plan). Some scholarships and work trades will be available.

 

ANCHOR 1: Three 5-Day Intensives

We envision an in-person group at the San Francisco studio and ask for you to remember the power of being together in a room where, through our courage and vulnerability, we inspire each other to go deeper. Online spaces are available, on an individual basis, in the case of strong needs. (Please discuss your situation with Claudia or Maria before signing up.) There may be options to share or coordinate housing. If you live locally and can offer a room to someone, please let us know. 
 

Intensive Dates 

Note that an optional weekend workshop (which is open to the public) precedes each 5-day intensive; you may attend the weekend workshop (at a 25% discount), but you are not required to do so.

May 19 - 23, 2025, optional weekend: May 17-18, 2025

July 28 -August, 2025, optional Weekend: July 26-27, 2025

December 8-12, 2025, optional Weekend: December 6-7, 2025

 

Daily schedule 

Note that there is no afternoon break on Wednesdays.
 

• 10 am–1 pm, morning session

• 1–2:30 pm, lunch

• 2:30–5:30 pm, afternoon session

• 5:30–6 pm clean-up

• 6 pm on, optional self-directed painting

 

ANCHOR 2: Regular Practice

As part of the application process, each painter will develop a plan for their own ongoing painting practice over the course of the 9 months. Options include

• Weekly classes

• Monthly 1-day workshops, between intensives

• Intro/community classes

ANCHOR 3: Monthly Check-In Sessions

Each month from April through December, a 90-minute Zoom call will give program participants a chance to check in, ask questions, and share process highlights and lowlights.

They will be held on Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm on April 24, June 5th, July 10th, August 7th, Sept 4, Oct 9th, Nov 13, Dec 18th. (Dates and times may get adjusted based on the group's need).
 

 

FEES

$1,950–$2,550, sliding scale

Fees are payable in advance or in monthly installments. Some scholarships or work trades are available. Interested painters should contact CCE to discuss needs and options. CCE also welcomes donations for scholarships for this program.

​

Deposit of $500 is due by March 2, 2025 (non refundable). Balance is due by April 27, 2025. Please set up monthly payments with Claudia.

 

Fees include

• Three 5-Day Intensives

• Eight Zoom calls, 90 minutes each

• A 25% discount for any 2-day workshops you choose to attend in conjunction with the 5-day intensives.
