WHAT IS THE CENTER FOR CREATIVE EXPLORATION?
The CCE Painting Studio is a lively place filled with light, color, plants, and the warmth of a community sharing a space in which to explore the creative process. There you will find a luscious array of paints and supple brushes. This safe environment supports you in finding the authentic expression of your individual creative voice, giving you the freedom to create outside of your conditioned ideas about art: right/wrong, good/bad, ugly/beautiful. Creativity goes beyond technique, skill, and inspiration. It is life expressing itself through our own unique experience.
WHY PAINT?
Painting is a powerful tool that can reawaken passion, aliveness, and wonder. Painting provides a means of exploring our natural attraction to colors and shapes, both abstract and representational. Through painting, you can rediscover and reconnect with your creative self. Read “Why paint?” on our Experiences page.
WHO CAN PAINT?
The Painting Studio welcomes everyone: adults and children, those who have never even picked up a brush, and those who have painted for years. You have everything you need to begin. No prior experience required.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Through ongoing weekly classes and intensive workshops, you’ll learn to work fluently with the materials: flexible natural-bristle brushes, high-quality professional tempera paints, and smooth vellum Bristol printing paper. All materials are provided.
… You'll learn how to work with your creative blocks to free your creative energy.
… You'll have lots of time for exploration through painting.
… You'll receive individual attention from a facilitator.
… You'll have the chance to participate in facilitated group inquiries into the nature of creativity.
HOW DO I START?
Forget everything you think you know about art. Forget everything you think you don't know about art. Give yourself the permission to paint, to begin, again.
